Technology Department :: Technology Advisory Commitee
Each
year, the Technology Advisory Committee helps define the
goals, objectives, and activities the district will follow to enhance, support,
and facilitate all levels of learning, instruction, communication and administration
in technology.
Business and community representatives, parents, teachers, administrators, and technology staff from the district and campus levels are all involved in the planning process and participate in the revision of the district's Long-Range Plan for Technology.
Working sub-committees and task forces from this group also meet on a more regular basis throughout the year to implement the goals and objectives outlined in the plan. Over the years, these sub-commitees have worked on major projects such as:
- Performing a needs assessment and securing board approval for a new student information system that allows broader access to student information within the district & parent online access to grades, attendance and assignments
- Revising the curriculum and approach of the secondary Technology Applications courses (Webmastering, Computer Science, and Desktop Publishing)
- Adopting hardware & software standards and implementing a centralized Technology Support helpdesk & tracking software
- Developing a certification-track program for technology staff development for teachers
