FAQ's

Q:  Why do I have to pay the full amount of tuition in August and December?

A:  Tuition is for 175 regular school days from August 27, 2007 through May 24, 2008.  Tuition is pro-rated and paid on a monthly basis.  The total cost of ESE School Year Care has been divided by the 10 months so that each month's tuition stays consistent.  (see Tuition Explanation in Enrollment Packet )

Q:  What is a "Full Day"?

A:  ESE "Full Days" are scheduled openings when school is out due to holidays or teacher in-service days.  Hours of operation are 6:30 AM-6:30 PM  and are located at Annie Purl Elementary unless otherwise announced.  (see ESE Handbook  for specific dates)

Q:  Will I receive a credit or refund if my child does not attend a Full Day?

A: Payment made for a Full Day is non-refundable and non-transferable.  ESE must plan in advance for staffing, activities, snacks, and field trips (if scheduled).

Q:  Does ESE offer tutoring?

A:  Tutoring sessions occur during the year based on available funding and volunteer tutors.  Tutoring is offered to identified ESE children by Helping Hand Tutoring through Partners in Education.

Q:  Does ESE provide tuition assistance to low income families?

A: Yes,  ESE receives monies through grants to provide partial tuition assistance.  Limited funding is available, and each request will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Q:  What is the Registration Fee for?

A:  The Registration Fee helps cover the cost of supplies that your child will use through out the school year.

Q:  Is there a deadline in order to register my child for out of school services?

A:  ESE registers children year round.  *Please allow 2 complete business days to process the paperwork before the child  begins care.*

Q:  Is there after school care for my child going into 6th grade?

A:  Yes, GISD offers a program called ASAP.  ASAP stands for After School Action Program.  ASAP offers care to 6th through 8th grade students enrolled in GISD.  Click here for more information on ASAP.
