This year, our physical education class will be learning about:

  • Fundamentals and team concepts of basketball, soccer, football, floor hockey, softball, and tennis.
  • We hope to cover some aspects of golf and camping.

INTRODUCTION: The following activities utilize basic floor hockey skills in a variety of easy to manage lead-up games. The emphasis is on participation and having fun. These activities allow all students an opportunity to enjoy moderate-to-vigorous physical activity regardless of their skill ability.

OBJECTIVES: 1. In these activities students will:  1. Practice basic floor hockey skills ( stick handling, passing, shooting, and receiving ). 2. Develop physical fitness through floor hockey lead-up games. 3. Have fun being physically active.                                                          

EQUIPMENT: Hockey sticks, tennis balls, and cones.

Thursday: Stick Handling - 1. Tap, tap, tap,. Tap and push puck gently. 2. Both sides, quick stick. Move the stick over the puck  quickly and use both sides of the blade to tap the puck.

Friday: Passing and Shooting: 1. Side to target. Point one shoulder to the target. 2. Back foot. Start the puck on the stick blade at the back foot. 3. Sweep the puck  Sweep, don't slap, the puck to the target. Listen for a scraping sound. 4. Snap the wrists. Roll the wrists in the direction of the target.

Classes begin everyday with sit-ups, push-ups, stretching, and running laps.
