What is colonialism in Africa?

It is a policy or practice which one country (Europe) installs a settlement of people, and animals to another society. (Africa)

What is the importance of colonialism in Africa?

The Europeans wanted the biggest or richest colonies, and wanted control over economy. The European nations began to compete for complete control over Africa. Once they gained complete control over Africa, they divided it. The colonies in Africa were so important that seven countries in Europe and one empire all claimed colonies in Africa. The countries were Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The empire was the Ottoman Empire.

What is the problem of colonialism?

Colonies were so important that most of the ruling countries fought each other for the richest or biggest land. The colonies were so important to the ruling countries of Europe would fight each other for the land. The more colonies each country had the more control.

How does the government play a role in colonialism?

The government, Europeans, and the U.S. leaders had a meeting and decided to divide Africa. The government , Europeans, and the U.S. leaders tried to make Africans more like Europeans. Since this meeting/event caused the Europeans to use the Africans as slaves.

How would you attempt to fix or correct this?

You could have a worldwide vote asking  if you would want to give the Africans their freedom. Give African their own colonies to live in instead of being treated like slaves. Let them live the way they want to live. Everybody deserves to be free, because everybody should be treated equally.

What is the global reaction towards colonialism?

The global reaction to colonialism is that the schools in colonial Africa wanted the children to be more like Europeans. So in the schools they taught the children history, and literature of Europe not even knowing that it affected Africa's history, and cultural heritage. The children would not know their own countries ways of living. Once the African soldiers returned home from World Wars l and ll, they wanted to build independent countries that would take their place among the global community of nations.
