Rules & Procedures

Dear Students,

A new year is upon us and I am very excited to begin working with you.  These are the policies of my classroom.  I am posting my class rules, routines and explanations of each so that you will know what to expect in my class.  If you are fully aware of what I expect of you, then you will know what to expect from me....no surprises. We will work together happily for success!  If there is something that you do not understand, please ask me.

Make a personal commitment right now to be  responsible and demonstrate excellence in academics and behavior.  I will help you along the way to achieve these goals.  At the end of the year , you will be much more responsible and you will feel very proud of yourself.  Invest the time and effort now in improving yourself and your future.  The results are worth it!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Roberts

TARDIES

  1. Anytime you are not in your seat, with your materials out and pencil sharpened, when the bell rings, you are counted as tardy.
  2. If you do not have materials and have to go to your locker that is tardy too.
  3. A written excuse from a teacher turned in to me will be counted as excused.  You will not be allowed to go back and get a note so ask before you leave.
  4. If you arrive late to class you must sign the tardy book.
  5. Three unexcused tardies will result in a detention.

HOMEWORK AND MAKE-UP WORK

1.        Turn in all work on the due date.  Major assignments that have been worked on for extended times are due even if your are not here-have a friend or parent turn them in for you.

2.       Work that is not turned in will have points deducted.

a.       Homework, 25 points next day only

b.       On the second day it is a zero.

3.       You are responsible for any work you miss when you are absent, out on a field trip, or involved with an activity for another class.

4.       You are responsible for finding out what this work is and making it up and turning it in.

5.       All tests that were taken while you were absent are to be taken during tutorial times.

6.       Place work in the turn-in bin the day it is due.

EXTRA CREDIT

Extra credit may be completed only if you are regularly turning in ALL assignments.  If you are failing you need to attend tutorials and make up missing work before extra credit will be assigned.  Please remember that extra credit is extra work for the teacher and hardly fair if you are not doing your share in the first place.

RESTROOM

  1. There are no restroom visits during reading time or times I am presenting information.  Don’t even ask (unless it is an extreme emergency).

LIBRARY

  1. You can visit the library twice in one week. Turning in books can be handled when you go to check out a book.
  2. You must sign the pass log when you leave and come back.  Failure to do so will result in suspension of privileges.
  3. If you return without a book, or a valid reason why you do not have one, you will receive a detention.

ACCELERATED READING

  1. Students should always have a reading book with them at all times.
  2. You must fill out reading logs daily.
  3. Students must have reading log present with them at all times and on their desk during SSR time.

AR TESTING

  1. Students will turn in TOPS report for two AR tests taken each nine weeks.  These grades will be put in the grade book as a test grade. If the student takes more than two tests I will take the two highest grades.
  2.  Students can only test after they have shown the teacher the reading log.  Any tests taken where the reading log is NOT pre-approved by the teacher will not be accepted.

SUSTAINED SILENT READING TIME

  1. Students must read for the entire allotted time.
  2. No doing homework or reading material for another course is allowed.  SSR is not to be used as a study hall.
  3. Students must have a book in possession when SSR time starts.

CLASSROOM RULES

By the time you get to middle school, you have had a lot of school experience, and you know how to behave in a classroom situation.  You should have developed the ability to self monitor and control your actions to a large extent, and you will be expected to do so in my class.  Therefore, there are only four rules in my class.  They are easy to remember, and I expect you to think about your actions before you proceed.

                The Class Rules Are:

                1. Be polite

                2. Be prepared

                3. Be positive

                4. Be productive

        room.

    c. Stay on task.

4. Substitute Teacher Days

    a. Negative Consequences

problem will receive an automation referral.

*I will automatically contact parents with a full report.

    b. Positive Consequences

        * The best class will receive a coupon for each student.  This class must not

have any names recorded for the period in which I was absent.  If all

classes receive an excellent report, all students will get a coupon.

CONSEQUENCES

You do not have the right to waste others' time in my class with poor behavior and attitudes.  I have a zero tolerance for inappropriate rude behavior. These are the consequences for these behaviors:

1. warning

2. parent contact (phone or note)

3. team conference

4. office referral

Remember : showing that you are a responsible individual by following

the class rules and being a role model for others will earn you more

                freedom in the classroom.
