Educational Philosophy

I believe that being a teacher is much more than teaching children
reading, writing, and math. It is a skill that requires patience and
observation. It is my duty as a teacher to provide the spark needed
for children to be interested and proud of what they can accomplish.
I believe that students benefit more through an interactive
classroom that includes hands-on experiences and dialogue between
teacher and student. I also believe that learning in the classroom
must be taught in relation to a student’s prior learning
experiences. Students need to be able to relate classroom learning
to everyday life experiences. Allowing group work I will be able to
enhance creativity among students and give students who normally do
not speak a voice. I feel that this is a great method of teaching
from which students will have fun learning. They are able to move
around and do not feel as if they are confined to a desk the entire
class period. If a student is bored in the classroom (s)he will not
learn.
As an educator there are many concepts and methods to be observed
and learned. Each class is different so teaching methods and
strategies will change from class to class. As I continue to teach I
will find more and more new concepts in which I will use as I see
fit for the success of my students.
