This year, our class will explore many different genres of literature as they increase their knowledge and skills at the appropriate levels in grammar, writing and reading. We will incorporate many different types of activities and strategies, both with paired, group, and individual interaction with text.  Students will read fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short stories, drama. They  annotate text to determine author's purpose.  Regular journal writing on topics of student interest will inspire more sophisticated essays.  Eventually, students will be able to annotate their own writing and that of their peers. Writing workshop helps students achieve purposeful, confident writing and editing.
