Symphonic Band   

Parents, please make sure that your child is attending required sectionals every week.  We have had a lot of students missing their sectional time in the last few weeks.  It is very important for the success of the Symphonic Band that ALL students attend sectionals weekly!  Also, students will be receiving tallies for every unexcused absence from sectionals.  These are required tutorials for all band students.

Expectations

The purpose of the Symphonic Band will be to prepare students to move forward successfully to Honor Band or high school.  The main goal of all Symphonic Band students will be to rehearse, practice, and perform to the best of their ability at all times.  Our goals will be accomplished by having a positive attitude and outlook, following rules, and respecting others.  To achieve our goals all Symphonic Band students will do the following:

• ·        Have all supplies at their seat, every day

• ·        Refrain from talking to neighbors/friends during class time

• ·        Stay in their seat the entire class period, unless given permission to get up

• ·        Use the restroom before coming to band

• ·        Treat others’ property and feelings with respect

• ·        Attend all required rehearsals and performances

• ·        Arrive on time to any and all band functions (including class!)

• ·        Practice correctly and often

Please make arrangements for your child to be at every sectional.  Sectionals are very important for our success at competition, as they are one on one time with the teacher.  Sectionals will be held EVERY week.   

Up and coming events:

• Please log onto www.charmsmusic.com and fill in all information possible.
• Instrument usage fee is due ASAP.  If your child uses a GISD owned instrument (including percussion) the usage fee is $60/year.  Please make checks out to GPAA-band
