What is my research topic? What are some research keywords?

• My research topic is the African Elephant.
• Some keywords I used to help me research were: endangered species, Africa, and Elephant.

What is the description of a elephant?

•  The elephant is the largest animal that lives on land.
• The elephant can why about 6,000,000 .
• Elephant baby's weigh about 200 to 300 pounds.
• Elephants eat 400 pounds a day.
• Its the second largest animal that lives on land.
• It is the second tallest member of the animal kingdom only the giraffe is taller.
• They have large ears and a trunk.
• They have ears in the shape of Africa.
• They only have four teeth.

  Where in Africa does the elephant live?

• Elephants once roamed the entire continent of Africa.
• Now they have been reduced to small groups scattered in areas south of the Sahara desert.

  Why is the elephant endangered?

• People have destroyed most of the elephants natural surroundings.
• They clear land for settlements and for farming.
• This makes it hard for them to find food.
• Illegal ivory hunting also threatens them.
• Sport hunting is also a problem in some countries,
• They were put on the Endangered Species list in 1989.

  How does the elephant affect the people in Africa?

• Demand for ivory combined with habitat loss and the formation of human settlements has led to the decline of the elephants.
• Elephant manure is good for African soil. It helps seeds sprout and makes the soil better without it some plants don't survive and this causes problems for the people.
• People also poach the elephants so they can make a living, if the tusks weren't so valuable people wouldn't kill them.
• Some people are forced to eat the elephants because they have no other food.

What does the rest of the world (not Africans) think about the elephant being endangered? What is the global reaction to endangered species? What is the global reaction to the elephant being placed on the endangered list?

• People should protect their habitats.
• Permanently  make national parks or nature reserves or wilderness areas.
• They also need to live without to much interference from humans.

What is  being done to help the problem with the endangered African elephants?

• There are groups that donate money to the elephants.

•  The African give some land for them to stay on.

• Put the elephants in a pork to protect them from poachers.

  What is my personal opinion of the endangered African Elephant?

• I think what happens to the elephants is bad.

• We should help stop poaching by teaching people new jobs, so they can live.

• Maybe they could use the elephants to help do some jobs so they could work together.
