What is my research topic? What are some keywords?

• My topic is apartheid.
• Some keywords I used help me research were :  apartheid, segregation, apartness and Nelson Mandela.

What does apartheid mean? What is the definition or description of apartheid?

• Apartheid is when one race is accepted more than another.
• One race is preferred more than another sometimes because of  race or religious beliefs. 
• Apartheid is the the African word for apartness.
• One race or region is better than another.
• Another definition would be separate development.

Why is apartheid important in Africa?

• Apartheid in Africa is important because it causes conflicts.
• Also it says one race is better than another.
• In the 1940's through the 1960's laws were made so colored people could not succeed as well as others (non-colored).
• Some jobs were white only jobs.
• Some parts of Africa were white only areas and were much nicer than colored only parts.
• Colored people sometimes were taken from their homes because they were in white only areas.

Why is apartheid a current problem in Africa?  

• It is a problem because whites and colored were not given equal rights which causes conflicts.
• They were separated to white and colored parts.
• Colored people were not allowed into white only areas.
• Colored people had to move from their homes because of the white only areas.
• The government said it was fine for people not to be treated equal.

How does apartheid affect the people who live in Africa?

• It affects them because there are not equal rights.
• In the 1950 blacks were not allowed to have high paid jobs.
• South Africa was the worst in the Great Apartheid.
• The government said they had to live in different areas.
• People were brutal to coloreds and people for their religious beliefs.

What does the rest of the world think about apartheid in Africa? What is the global reaction to apartheid?

• Some countries miss treat people who look different.                                
• But for the most part countries treat people equal.
• America had a time were slavery was not outlawed.
• Counties can change but there will still be people who treat people bad just because of there color or beliefs.
• I don't think other counties like it but they didn't to get involved.

   What can be done to help apartheid? What is being done?

• Tell the people if they hurt someone because of there race or beliefs they will  be throw in jail.
• There are laws to protect people from hate crimes.
• Nelson Mandela fought to end apartheid in Africa.
• Back in the 1950's and 1960's there were no laws against this.
• Because of this many people were hurt.

  What is your opinion about apartheid in Africa. How do you react to apartheid in Africa?

• I think people should just except one another for who they are.
• Also they should except that other people have other beliefs.
• Everyone is different.
• They need to think how they would feel if they were treated like that.
• Now there are laws to make sure the Grand Apartheid does not happen again.
