Mrs. Krenek's Library Website: This page has many links to help you find more information on the African research projects.  

CIA World Factbook: This government website has statistics and current information on every country in the world.

Encyclopedia Britannica: This website is great for general research on a variety of social studies topics. To access it, use the username cfms and eagles as a password.

Plagarism Information: This is a VERY IMPORTANT research guide with information and links on how to avoid plagiarism in writing.

Student Resource Center: Provided by Georgetown ISD, this website includes a detailed list of search engines, social studies websites, and access to library catalogs. If you visit subscription databases, it will ask for a passcode - forbes

Conducting Research on the Internet: An internet tutorial on how to find information on the internet that includes a step by step process.

Great Social Studies Websites:

Maps101: This website is great for looking at current events, map collections, reference atlases, and flags of the world.

Social Studies for Kids: Information and resources in History, Geography, Government, Economics, World Cultures, and Current Events. Be sure to check out the Fun Facts!

MapMachine: National Geographic's online atlas will help you find nearly any place on Earth, and view it by population, climate, and much more.

Kid's House: This is a great website by the Texas House of Representatives. You can learn about how a bill becomes a law, and even take a virtual tour of the capitol.

Countries of the World: This website provides information about different countries, including maps, flags, climate and geography.

National Geographic for Kids: This place has lots of fun activities, and even homework help! I especially like the GeoBee Challenge.

Maecenas - Images: In this website, you can see actual artifacts about Ancient Greece and Rome look like. This website is good to use for help with Products during the Europe Project. 

Introduction to Ancient Rome: See images of important emperors and examples of Roman architecture. Great to help with Products during the Europe Project.

A Day in the Life of a Medieval Knight: In this WebQuest, you can learn more about the vassals of feudal society during the Middle Ages.

Trace It!: See if there was ever a knight in your ancestry.

The Industrial Revolution: Test your knowledge of the Industrial Revolution at this cool website.

French Revolution: Lots of good information found here. It has links into the history, causes, and events of the French Revolution.

World War I Video: This is the video we saw in class during the fall semester.

AfricaFiles: This website provides an extensive assortment of links to government agencies, international institutions, and other groups with a role or interest in Africa.

Regions of the World - Africa Video: Watch a video on the physical geography of Africa and answer the video quiz for a daily grade. 

Regional Climate Maps of Africa: This website has maps that show the precipitation and temperatures for regions of Africa south of the Sahara.

Masai: Find information about the warrior tribe that lives in Kenya.

Yam Festival: Celebrate the culture of the Ga people of Ghana by learning about the harvest festival called Homowo. 

University of Pennsylvania African Studies: This database has information on each African country, and will be particularly helpful when working on your student websites.

AfricaPlanet: This very useful website includes important information and country guides.

 

 

Asia Links:

Write Your Name in Chinese: Get your own Chinese name based on your English name and find out your sign in the Chinese Zodiac! Simply type in your first and last name, select what kind of characteristics you want to be expressed in the name, select your gender, enter your birthdate and press "Get a Name!".

Buddhist Studies: This all-inclusive resource breaks down Buddhism into easy to understand units.

Eastern Studies Database: This is a great resource for research on Asian culture, with lots of pictures!

Hiroshima Peace Site: This is the official homepage of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. It includes virtual tours of both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atom Bomb Museums, Peace Culture information, and a Kids' Peace Station.

Kids Web Japan: This Japanese culture website has links for Japanese cooking, language instruction, culture corner, travel information, and technology highlights.

 

 

Latin America Links:

La Llorona: Learn more about the Hispanic folk tale we read in class.

Mayan Kids: This is a great resource for research on the Mayans of Central America and Mexico.
