The development of math and critical thinking skills is essential for success in the modern world.  From store clerk to industrial engineer, from carpenter to business manager.  Most good jobs are going to require math skills.  Problem solving is a task you’ll meet all your life. 
Take time now to learn those skills.  Every day you learn a little more you are closer to mastering the skills that will bring success in life.

Wednesday - Ladders to Success:  pp 116- 117, "Practice the Skill" - joining common expressions in equations... (Algebraic Equations.)
Thursday - Ladders to Success:  pp 118- 120, "Show What Your Learned" - (Algebraic Equations.)
Friday -  Ladders to Success:  corrections pp 119, 120.  Begin 
         
Week of March 31th - April 4th  -   
Monday - Solving for "y" in simple equations... learn steps and practice 10 problems.
Tuesday - Ladders to Success:  pp 122 - 125, "Practice the Skill 1 and News Flash" (Solving for "y" and plotting coordinate points.)

Friday, September 1st, 2006
Today we will be working in the computer lab.  Room 113.  Students will be working on an online sample 8th grade TAKS test.
Instructions:
1.)  Go to Mathematics*click on this link.
2.) Write in your name.
3.) Answer the test questions online.  Don't worry if you don't finish today.  You shouldn't.  You will continue next time we come to the computer lab.
4.) Use a scratch paper to do work.  Also record your answers on the scratch paper.  (You will need to enter them in again next time when we continue the sample TAKS test.)
5.) At the end of the period you will turn in the paper to Mr. Nelson.
