I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.
I have a younger sister and an older brother. I attended Thousand Oaks
Elementary, Bradley Middle School, and Mac Arthur High School. I played soccer,
took Tae Kwon Do, and played bass clarinet in band. I have always enjoyed
playing, dancing, and listening to music.
After high school, I went to Southwest Texas State University
in San Marcos. It will always be SWT to me. I performed in the
marching band, wind ensemble, and winterguard. I started out as a music
education major, but decided to change to elementary education. I
graduated with a bachelors degree in elementary education with a specialization
in early childhood.
While at SWT I met my husband, Charles. We got married
on December 16, 1995. I graduated in December of 1997 and moved up I-35 to
Georgetown where Charles was already a band director. In the fall of '98 I was
hired at Carver Elementary to be a Kindergarten teacher. I loved working with
young children and enjoyed it very much.
On January 12, 1999 during my first year teaching I gave
birth to our first son, Noah Christian. On August 23, 2002 we were blessed with
our second son, Brandon Jakob. Both boys play soccer and keep us very busy.
After six years of teaching Kindergarten I decided to make a
change. Currently this is my third year as the technology facilitator at Ford
Elementary. Even though it's been a big change from Kindergarten, I love being
able to work with all of the different age groups. I also like getting to
work with all the teachers at Ford. And I am a computer geek at
heart which makes this job more exciting than it already is.
With the little spare time that I have, I help teach the high
school winterguard. The winterguard competes on weekends until April, when
they will attend the Texas Colorguard Circuit State Championship.
With Charles being the Fine Arts Director and me doing what I
do, we are always on the go. But we wouldn't have it any other way!
