"All-Star" Parents and First Graders Welcome to first grade in room 212 at Jo Ann Ford Elementary. I am so excited about this school year and hope you are too. Our theme for the year is “Teamwork”! My goal is to have the children relate the ideas of “team” and “teamwork” throughout the year to our concepts of study, social skills, learning to read, and process writing in Writer’s Workshop. Let me share a bit about myself with you. My name is Jodi Conrad and this is my 18th year of teaching. This will be my fourth year teaching first grade at Ford. I previously taught first grade for four years at Annie Purl Elementary and for ten years in the Round Rock School District—one year as a Special Ed Teacher, six years as a Second Grade Teacher and three years as a Reading Recovery Teacher. My husband Bob and I live in Georgetown with our two boys, Matt (10yrs) and Sam (8yrs). Bob is a U.S. history teacher (AP and regular) at Round Rock High School, Matt will be in fifth grade, and Sam will be in third grade. My boys come to Ford Elementary. First grade is an exciting year! You will be amazed at how much your child will grow this year. I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling. Eagle folders will come home every Tuesday with your child. Please look for important information, review your child’s work and return the folder on Wednesday. You will receive a First Grade Newsletter in your child’s Eagle folder every Monday. I hope to send out frequent e-mails to keep you updated about all of the exciting things happening in our classroom. I know that working together we can make this a successful year for your child. Please feel free to contact me any time with questions or concerns. My conference time this year is 1:20-2:05. My e-mail address is conradj@georgetownisd.org Your child’s first grade teacher, Mrs. Jodi Conrad
