Welcome to my home page! I am a Art teacher at GHS and Richarte.

Education & Teaching Background:

	Education: Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Art from Texas State University. I have certification in Art grades K-12, and approved by the College Board to teach Advanced Portfolio.
	Yrs. experience at GISD: I have been with GISD twelve years, two years at Benold Middle School and ten years at GHS.

This year I will be splitting time between GHS and Richarte. I will be teaching ART 1, ART 2 and Pre-AP classes.

In ART1 we will cover:

	The Elements of art and Principles of Design
	Various types of art and artists
	A variety of art materials and techniques

In ART 2 we will:

	revisit the Elements and Principles
	Examine art and artists in relation to use of drawing skills
	Learn and refine our drawing skills and techniques using a variety of media and subject media

In Pre-AP

The Pre-AP class is an advanced coarse that stresses technique, development of a studio work ethic in the production of art, and an emphasis on a move to a personal statement. Deadlines are stressed, and outside work is mandated. The class is designed to help the serious art student make a smooth transition into the AP studio class.

We will:

    Develop strong knowledge of the elements and principles.

    Improve art techniques in a variety of medium

    Incorporate art history

    Draw from observation

    Learn to stimulate and compose from our creativity

    Enter quality work into exhibits and competitions
