The Engineering Club at Georgetown High is based out of a program called Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and is brand new this year. Daniel Weyant, the club sponsor, currently teaches Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), and Business Computer Information Sytems (BCIS), and is scheduled to begin Priniciples of Engineering (POE), the second class in the PLTW system, next year.
IED and POE are the first two classes on the first of three tiers in the PLTW program. The Engineering club has hopes to create tangible connections from the classroom into the working world. Mr. Weyant has been in contact with many local businesses interested in contracting our students to create prototypes of their products using Autodesk Inventor, a 3-dimensional modeling software, and the school's newly purchased ??printer??.
We are very excited at GHS to be able to become a respected club at the school and within the community.
