WELCOME!  to your Family and Consumer Science course.  Here are a few expectations:

  • Please come to class on time, the door will be shut when the bell rings.  If you are late without a pass go directly to your principal and return to class ASAP.
  • Please have the necessary items for this class- paper and pen, your textbook and your notebook.
  • Please do not abuse your time in my class; take care of your personal errands during your personal time.
  • Hall Passes will be limited.  Please be ready to learn when you get here.  Check the board for instructions/ activities to begin.
  • Please sit in your assigned desk daily; it is much easier for me to see who is here and who is not.
  • Please be respectful of myself and others, especially while I am talking.  I want to know you are listening to me.
  • You are responsible for obtaining make-up work after and absence.  Look in the appropriate class period folder behind my desk.  I will not hand it out to you- it is up to you to get it, complete it and turn it in to me.  The district policy states that you have one extra day per absence to turn in make-up work.  After that time I will apply the district late work policy (10 pts. off for each late day, 3rd day late = zero grade).

It is very simple to do well in this course.  Attend, listen, keep up, do your assignments, review for tests, and care a little about the quality of your work.  I hope this is a class that you enjoy and that it prepares you for life outside of these walls.  I expect big things from you- please don’t let me down.

NOTEBOOK AND GRADING:

You are required to keep a notebook in this class.  Please bring a 3 ring binder and 5 dividers; you may label them as follows:  Notes, Vocabulary, Daily Work, Tests, and Journal.  You will use this notebook to take your 9 weeks test.  You are required to put ALL notes, vocabulary, assignments, quizzes and tests in the appropriate divider.  DO NOT EVER THROW AWAY PAPERS IN THIS CLASS.  You will keep a running journal that I will check periodically.  You are responsible for your notebook.  You may keep it in the classroom or you may keep it with you.  I will check them periodically, but will let you know ahead of time when I do.  This is a very easy test grade!!  Keep it organized and you will do fine.

Enjoy this semester.  Gather all of the information that you can…it may serve you will someday!  Have Fun!
