District Planning   


In order to guide the improvement of student performance, the district and each campus annually develop and/or revise continuous improvement plans. Committee members at both the campus and district levels include teachers, staff, district administrators, and community members.  The planning process is guided by established board policy and state statute.  

To participate in the planning process, you may join the District Performance Council or a District Advisory Committee.

District Performance Council

You may become a member of the District Performance Council that shapes the vision for GISD and sets the direction for its future. This committee comprised of parents, teachers, administrators, and business and community members is advisory to the Superintendent. The purpose of the council is to develop, evaluate, and annually revise the District Plan for improving the performance of all students. The District Performance Council meets several times per year at the GISD Administration Building Board Room at 603 Lakeway Drive. Check the DPC Calendar for dates & times. District Advisory Committees

The District Advisory Committees meet 3-4 times per year to make recommendations to the District Performance Council. The advisory committees allow you to participate in the development of action plans in specific areas, such as technology, special education, or gifted education. To join an advisory committee, contact the chairperson noted below.

Campus Improvement Planning

Each GISD campus has a site-based decision-making committee or Campus Improvement Team (CIT) that helps to develop, review, and revise the campus improvement plan for the purpose of improving student performance for all student populations, including all special needs populations, based on the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS).
The campus improvement plan

  • assesses the academic achievement of all students
  • sets the campus performance objectives
  • identifies how campus goals will be met
  • determines the resources and identifies the staff needed to implement the plan
  • sets time lines for reaching the goals
  • measures progress
  • provides for a program to encourage parental involvement
  • includes goals and methods for violence prevention and intervention on campus

Each campus principal leads the CIT for their campus.
