Outreach Programs & Services
For students in need of additional assistance to achieve success in the classroom environment, Georgetown ISD provides a wide variety of outreach programs and services.
Most outreach programs and services referrals are made through the guidance counselors or Student Assistance and Intervention Liaison (SAIL) team on each campus. SAIL is designed to identify and intervene with students who may be experiencing difficulties at home or at school that interfere with student success.
Each campus SAIL team is comprised of a select team of GISD staff who specialize in helping students deal with academic, social, emotional, or behavioral problems that interfere with learning. This includes helping students deal with:
- learning problems
- peer conflicts
- trauma
- chemical dependency
- anxiety
- depression
- family distress
or any number of other issues that threaten academic success. Often, resources provided directly on each campus - such as small groups, mentoring, tutorials, mediation, and one-on-one counseling - can help students cope with issues of concern.
Teachers, students, parents, and other loved ones with concerns about any GISD student are encouraged to contact their school counselor or a SAIL team member. All referrals are private and confidential. SAIL teams of specially trained teachers and support staff meet regularly at each campus to make recommendations and explore referral options for students.
