Experience

School year ’08-’09 will be Mr. Tucker’s first year with GISD as well as his first year as principal at Georgetown High School. He has 33 years of experience in the public schools of Texas. Mr. Tucker was an English teacher at the beginning of his career. Following that he went into administration. He has been an elementary principal, a high school principal and a superintendent of schools. His experiences have been varied, but of all positions in the system he chooses to serve at the high school. Mr. Tucker views the high school as an important part of the developmental process as one moves into adulthood. A positive experience in high school is critical in preparing young people to be successful citizens, able to navigate the vastness of life beyond the protected environment of the school system.

  Interests

Mr. Tucker is married to Barbara Tucker, an elementary music teacher. They have two children: Kendra and Harrison. Kendra has left the world of
veterinarian medicine to be a 5th grade math and science teacher in the coming year. Harrison has just graduated from law school and will be working for Baker-Botts, a Houston law firm.

Mr. Tucker’s interests include blue grass music, antiquing, old houses and bow ties, his signature. He loves old town and celebrates its historical significance.
