Partners in Education Receives $7,000 Grant

Georgetown Partners in Education (PIE) is proud to announce being awarded the City of Georgetown Funding Youth Grant in the amount of $7,000.

PIE's Helping Hand Tutoring Program (HHT) is the recipient of this, first ever, grant. HHT provides free, volunteer based, one-on-one tutoring to GISD students, grades K-8, performing below grade level.

This past year Partners in Education serviced 105 students identified as below grade level prior to HHT services. The following are Spring 2006 HHT student TAKS results after HHT services:

*73% of HHT students mastered the Reading TAKS objectives
*72% of HHT students mastered the Math TAKS objectives
*81% of HHT students mastered the Writing TAKS objectives
*65% of HHT students mastered the Science TAKS objectives
*80% of HHT students mastered the Social Studies TAKS objectives

In addition to this generous grant award from the City of Georgetown, PIE would like to thank our principals, counselors, teachers, PIE Lead Tutors and all of the caring volunteers who have supported our students in this effort.

The benefits of the HHT program are making a difference! Thank you so much, as we would not be able to help our youth without the caring commitment and support you have given to Helping Hand Tutoring/Georgetown Partners in Education.
