Ten Campuses Receive Gold Performance Acknowledgements

Congratulations to GISD, GHS, Benold, Tippit, Forbes, Cooper, Pickett/Carver, McCoy/Frost, Village, Williams/Purl, Ford and the District for receiving Gold Performance Acknowledgments (GPA) in one or more areas.  The GPA system acknowledges districts and campuses for high performance on indicators other than those used to determine accountability ratings.

In 2004, three campuses received Gold Performance Acknowledgments, however, in 2006, ten campuses received Gold Acknowledgements.  Unfortunately, the Gold Acknowledgment system does not recognize the paired campuses for the student performance as the AEIS system does.  Therefore, Frost, Purl, and Carver cannot receive Gold Acknowledgments under this system.  However, GISD recognizes that these PK-2 campuses are very important to the success of their partner campuses McCoy, Williams, and Pickett. These campuses have truly also earned Gold Acknowledgments although not officially recognized.

Clearly, these recognitions indicate that GISD campuses are continuing to make great strides in academic student achievement. The acknowledgements recognize campuses for high performance in areas critical to the academic success of students. Each of these campuses is to be commended on their outstanding efforts to strengthen student performance toward GISD’s academic goals.  GISD is very fortunate to have such dedicated teachers, principals, and staff, motivated students, and very high levels of parent and community involvement which are critical to the success of each campus and to the district.

“We are proud that these schools have earned these special State recognitions,” Superintendent Joe Dan Lee said. “It is evident that Georgetown is making significant progress in improving teaching and learning for all students throughout the school district.”
