Press Release from Board of Trustees

After three years of outstanding leadership, the Georgetown Independent School District Board of Trustees announces the retirement of Superintendent Joe Dan Lee effective August 2007.  Under Lee’s leadership, the District has experienced improved academic achievement, effectively managed growth, and passed a $97 million bond.

The Board plans to utilize the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Service to identify and recruit qualified applicants.  TASB was the same service used when Lee was hired three years ago.  The Board will evaluate the available superintendent candidate pool and take the appropriate time to find the best leader for Georgetown ISD.

In summary, the GISD Board of Trustees expresses its confidence in continued academic success due to its excellent administrators, instructional staff, and employees.
