GISD Migrant Coordinator Receives Service Award
GISD Migrant Coordinator Creuza Maciel received a Recruiter Service Award at the 2007 Texas Migrant Education Conference. Ms. Maciel has enhanced and enriched the lives of hundreds of families in Region XIII through her role of recruiter in Georgetown ISD. A native of Brazil, Creuza brings to her position commitment to education and relentless dedication to ensure the rights and voice of every family she serves. Her vision is to see all children learn and fulfill their dreams, without excluding children with disabilities and those most vulnerable and at-risk. She surrounds her migrant families with a web of connected resources. Whatever the need, Creuza creates opportunities and offers possibilities. Establishing connections and nurturing relationships are some of her greatest strengths. Creuza never forgets these inspiring words from a migrant worker, “Venimos con la mochila llena de suenos - We came with a rucksack full of dreams."
