Education Foundation Awards Innovative Teaching Grants

On Friday, November 21st, the Georgetown ISD Education Foundation grant dream team traveled around the district to present over 50 GISD teachers and staff grant funding for over $40,000. The Education Foundation received 62 Innovative Teaching Grant applications in September, reviewed them, and approved funding for sixteen requests.  The grants were made possible by generous donations from the Georgetown community.  At each stop the dream team entered the school with a beating drum, whistles and lots of cheering to surprise the grant winners in their classrooms with their students present to see their accomplishments.

The Georgetown ISD Education Foundation was formed in 2007 as a committee of Georgetown Partners is Education and is a non-profit charitable organization.  The sole purpose of the Education Foundation is to benefit the Georgetown Independent School District by providing funds for educational programs and activities which are not funded by the normal operating budget.  These funds will be used to facilitate student achievement and skill development, to recognize and encourage staff excellence and to expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations.

Information detailing the campuses and teachers who received grants from the education foundation will be posted shortly.
