In 5th grade daily assignments make 40% of the grade and test scores make 60% of the grade in each subject.
1. Progress Reports Progress reports will come home in the middle of each nine week period in the Tuesday folder. 2. If your child is absent. For each day your scholar is absent he/she will have an equal number of days to make up the work. 3. If your child's assignment is late . . . Sometimes it is unavoidable to miss assignments. If your scholar cannot complete an assignment due to illness or if an infrequent family emergency arises there is no grade penalty. Send a note explaining the situation. However, if a pattern of missing work occurs, the scholar will lose 10 pts for the first day the work is missing, 20 points on the second day, and 30 points on the third day the work is missing. After the 3rd day, a '0' will be given for the assignment and the scholar will have to make up the work in 'After School Detention'. (The district has adopted these new guidelines to foster good study habits. Without strong study habits scholars do not reach their full potential.)
