Angle
– a figure formed by two line segments or rays that share the same end
point.
Acute angle
– an angle that is smaller than a right angle.
Obtuse
angle –
an angle that is larger than a right angle but smaller than a straight
angle.
Right angle
– an angle that forms a square corner.
Acute
triangle – a
triangle with three acute angles
Obtuse
triangle – a
triangle with one obtuse angle
Right
triangle – a
triangle with one right angle.
Equilateral
triangle – a
triangle with 3 equal, or congruent, sides.
Isosceles
triangle – a
triangle with 2 equal, or congruent sides.
Scalene

triangle with no equal, or congruent, sides.

– parallelogram, opposite sides congruent, 4 corners are right angles
Rhombus
– parallelogram, 4 congruent sides
Square
– parallelogram, 4 equal sides, 4 right angles.
Parallelogram
– quadrilateral, opposite sides are congruent and parallel.
Quadrilateral
– a shape with 4 sides.
Line of symmetry
– a line that separates a figure into 2 congruent parts.
Symmetric
– when a figure has a line of symmetry.
Symmetry
when one half of a figure looks like the mirror image of the other half.
