*In order to qualify for the Basic Language Skills class, students must first be referred through the campus SAIL** process . Student data is gathered, parent permission is required and the student is then given an evaluation using the Woodcock Johnson III, CTOPP, TOWRE. A team of dyslexia teachers will review the data and determine whether that scholar has dyslexic tendencies. At that point, the SAIL/504 committee will recommend the most appropriate placement for that scholar. **Student Assistance and Intervention Liaison (SAIL) ***SAIL (Student Assistance and Intervention Liaison) is a GISD program designed to identify and intervene with students who may be experiencing difficulties at home and/or school which interfere with their ability to be successful at school. SAIL is comprised of several teams of specially trained teachers and support staff who meet regularly to make recommendations and explore referral options for students brought to their attention by concerned teachers, parents, or the students themselves. SAIL serves as the Local Support Team and Student Assistance Program for Raye McCoy Elementary School. Contact person is Paula Doerfler, McCoy SAIL Program Coordinator at 943-5032.
