In addition to being a teacher, I am a wife and a mother of two children. My son is eight years old and attends school here in G.I.S.D. My daughter still has one more year of pre-school before starting kindergarten! My husband and I first moved to Georgetown almost 10 years ago. We had found a church we liked and started house shopping soon afterward. One of the things that I love about Georgetown, and want everyone to know about and experience, is the 40 Developmental Assets. Georgetown is very community oriented, and that is the environment that my husband and I wanted our children to grow up in. I hope you take advantage of all of the wonderful things you and your family can experience in Georgetown! I have been teaching scholars with dyslexia for eight years now. I do my best to keep updated in dyslexia information by attending trainings and inservices throughout the year. Additionally, I attend the G.I.S.D. community forums on a regular basis. If you have dyslexia, or you have a child with dyslexia, I strongly encourage you to attend the dyslexia meetings. It is the best way to keep up with the most recent information, regarding dyslexia, and what your child is learning in his or her class. If you have a child in my class, I look forward to working with you and your family! It is going to be another great year at McCoy!
