Dear Parents, I look forward to working with your child this 2009-2010 school year! I do have a tentative class schedule posted. However, there may be a few changes before we actually start classes. Currently, I am planning on beginning classes on September 8th. However, the following week, I will need to be available to administer reading, math and writing assessments. Your child will not need any supplies for the dyslexia class, as I will provide all of the necessary materials. Since there is limited time and space, I have taken the liberty of purchasing and preparing their folders, and all other materials needed. This means your child can come to class, get their assigned materials, and be ready to learn! However, I do have a Teacher Wish List which includes the following items: Crayola Twistable Slick Stix, small flashlights, AA batteries, laser pointers [found in pet section of Walmart] and gel markers. If you would like to donate any one of these items, I would be most appreciative:) The dyslexia class is very structured and time is critical. We will be in class forty-five minutes each day, Monday through Thursday. This allows your scholar the opportunity to attend all other TEA required subjects, i.e., P.E., Music, Art, and computer in their remaining flex/P.E. time. Fridays are reserved for testing, monitoring and preparing lesson plans. As a reading specialist, I do not have the wonderful privilege of having a home room parent:( Therefore, if any of you would like to help with making class materials, I would appreciate any assistance! One of the great things about being a dyslexia teacher, is that most of the scholars spend two or more years with me, in the classroom. This allows me to get to know your child and most of you! Please feel free to talk to me about your thoughts and/or concerns regarding your child. I will be more than happy to help in any way that I can. I look forward to working with you and your child!
Sincerely, Mrs. Dreibrodt [Drī * brōt] |
