Welcome to the HILL TOP SWEET SHOP...where sweet success awaits you!
I am Mrs. Hill.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and lived in the same house until I graduated from high school.  My parents still live there!!

I knew I wanted to become a teacher ever since I was in the second grade...
so after high school, I moved to Auburn, Alabama to attend Auburn University.

In 1999, after graduating from Auburn with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education, I moved back to Baton Rouge to start my teaching career as a second grade teacher.  In July 2000, I married my college sweetheart and moved to Austin.

My husband and I have been married for eight years, and we have one son, Connor, who was born on Valentine's Day in 2007.  Our previous "only child"...a 65 lb yellow lab named Hailey...is unhappily learning how to avoid the constant tugging of her ears!

We are also kept busy with our many nieces and nephews.  I have one brother and two sisters, and my husband has two brothers and two sisters.  Between all of them, we have six nieces and four nephews, with our newest arriving only last month!  When we get together for the holidays, it is like another classroom!!

Because I live eight hours away from the nearest family, I lean on my friends a lot for support and advice.  I have several friends from high school that have also moved to Austin, and I have made many new friends since I've been here.  I treasure each of them.

I love to travel, although I do not get to as much as I would like.  This summer I did get to go to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to visit my family for my nephew's birthday.

This is my eighth year teaching here at McCoy.  I taught fifth grade for three years and this is my fifth year in third grade.  Before McCoy, I taught first grade in Austin and second grade in Baton Rouge.  McCoy is definitely my favorite!!

Here are some of my other favorites...

bulletFavorite Subject ~ math
bulletFavorite Teaching Moment ~ when a scholar finally "gets it" after lots of hard work, risk taking, perseverance, and courage
bulletFavorite Children's Books ~ Number the Stars, The Giving Tree, A Dog Called Kitty, Down Girl and Sit: On the Road, and any book by William Joyce
bulletFavorite Food ~ Cajun cuisine, fresh fruit, and any cookies

bulletFavorite Childhood Memory ~ spending summers on a lake in Idaho with all of my mom's family...We would swim, ski, hike, and pick fresh cherries from my grandfather's cherry tree!
bulletFavorite Role Model ~ my dad...He is a hard-working and loving person who has a wonderful sense of humor.  Through him I have learned respect, integrity, responsibility, and love.
