Homework

Monday - Thursday - Each night your child will practice reading our story for the week.  If it doesn't take them 20 minutes to read the story please have them read for the remaining time in their library book or another book of their choice.  In addition they will have a spelling assignment each night that will change daily.

Friday - If you did all of your work during the school week, you should have no homework.

* Please see the general information tab to review policies for late homework.

Materials your child should be bringing home daily to effectively complete homework:

bullet Binder - Your child should always bring home their binder. Several of the items below will be clipped into their binder.
bulletAssignment Book- This is your guide to what your child should be doing at home each night. It is also your best way to write me a quick note about homework or other matters. Each night you should be checking your scholars assignment book and making sure they have completed all assignments indicated for completion that day. Also I often write or staple notes you need to see in the book. It is your scholars responsibility to bring their assignment book and homework to you for you to sign off in their assignment book that they have completed all their homework for the day, however it might be helpful for you to remind them until it becomes a habit.

bulletResponsibility Card-  The responsibility card should be signed each night by a parent.  It is my communication to you about how your child is behaving and working in class.  It is coded with numbers that will tell you the item your scholar needs to improve in.

bulletHomework Folder- This pocket folder should commute with your child and will contain Language Arts and Math assignments. After homework is completed it should be returned to this folder to come back to school. This cuts down on lost homework!

bulletReading Book- Some days it may be the textbook and others it may be a chapter book, there will also days that there will be an assignment from each and your scholar should have two books.

bulletClasswork Folders-  Your student should have class work folders in their binder.  One for Ms. Renna's work and one for Ms. Britton's.  The work in these folders in not homework.  It is ongoing or work your student did not have time to finish in class.  If I would like your child to finish class work at home it will have been moved to their homework folder.   Please make sure that the work in these folders stays in these folders so they will have it to work on at school when needed.
