The purpose of the McCoy Elementary School Student council
is to foster leadership while providing a democratic atmosphere in which
students, parents, and teachers may share ideas, needs and opinions. |

The
Student Council is comprised of one member from each 4th and 5th grade
homeroom class. |
 |
All Student Council Representatives must meet the following
criteria: |

-No grade average below an 80 for a 9-week grading
period
-No conduct grade below an “S”
-Good attendance, including being on time to school

Student Council will meet every 1st and 3rd Friday between
2:30-3:00 in room 47, to discuss service projects, fundraisers, and
activities. Student Council members will also engage in leadership and
teambuilding activities. |

The Student Council President will be a 5th grader elected
by the student body. An assembly will be held during which candidates
will give a short, prepared speech, no longer than 2 minutes. |

The student body will elect the offices of Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Historian. A 4th or 5th grade
representative may fill any of these positions. |
