During this nine weeks students will

  1. Review concepts from the beginning of the year using Countdown to TAKS
  2. Learn the following concepts/skills:

Division

bulletdividing by no more than 3 digit-numbers by two-digit numbers
bulletuse division to solve problems
bulletinterpret the remainder within a given context

Chapter 8: Division

Vocabulary:

divisor dividend quotient remainder
interpret factor product

Fractions:

bulletadding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator
bulletreview equivalent fractions using strategies such as common denominator and simplifying  by common factor

Measurement:

bulletperform simple converting measurements within the metric system and within the customary system (48 ounces = ? pounds; 3 meters - ? centimeters)
bulletconnect models for perimeter, area, and volume with their respective formulas
bulletselect and use appropriate units and formulas to measure length, perimeter, area, and volume
bulletsolve problems involving changes in temperature
bulletsolve problems using elapsed time

Probability:

bulletuse fractions to describe the results of an experiment
bulletuse experimental results to make predictions
bulletlist all possible outcomes of a probability experiment such as tossing a coin

Geometry:

bulletidentify attributes including parallel, perpendicular, and congruent parts of two- and three-dimensional geometric figures
bulletdescribe two- and three- dimensional figures and/or identify critical attributes with or without art
