Welcome to Counselor's Corner at Mitchell Elementary!  I am a Cynde Williams and very excited to be with GISD. This year I will be teaching Character Lessons from Character Counts, Positive Actions, and from the 40 Developmental Assets Model.  Each Month will focus on a new Character Trait which will be reinforced in the classrooms and on a campus wide level.

I will offer resources and ideas for you to use at home as well as list books that are great examples of people using Good Character.  I know with your help we will be able to help our Children reach their greatest potential.  I am a strong believer in the quote "It takes a Village to raise a Child."  I look forward to working with your children and hope that you will know my door is always open.

What's Happening at Mitchell

Character Trait for the Month:  RESPECT

"If you have some respect for people as they are, you can be more effective in helping them to become better than they are."   John W. Gardner

PALS

Mitchell Elementary is partnering with Georgetown High School to welcome 29 Peer Assistance Leadership Students (PALS) to our Campus.  PALS are a unique group of specially-trained teenaged mentors who make a positive impact on the lives of tomorrow's future by building relationships and modeling healthy choices.  PALS are paired with two Mitchell students and visit once every other week for social time, tutoring, or just good Old Fashioned Fun!

PIE Mentors

Mitchell Elementary welcomes citizens in our Community on Campus as Partners in Education with a select few of our Mitchell Students.  Our PIE Mentors are trained and have the desire to continue to touch the lives of our Future.  PIE mentors visit students weekly for social time or academics.
