Education & Teaching Background:

  • Stephen F. Austin, BFA 1985,University of Texas at Austin  (teacher certification) , Tech Texas (working on Masters in Art Education.
  • 4 years experience in GISD
  • 20 years of experience 16 at the high school level and 4 at the elementary level
  • Secondary Teacher of  the Year 2006 - 2007

Contact Information:

This year, our classes will be learning about many facets of Art.  We will also be participating in contest (V.A.S.E.) Visual Arts Scholastic Event  and higher level art projects.  My goal for this course is to motivate the student to learn passion for Art and to apply their skills.  In this course you will find it very rewarding and fun..  Any student can learn using the skills that  our department teaches. It will be myself and Carol Watson as instructors for our Art Departments

New Course  this year!!!!   Advanced Art 1-  This course is designed for the student that is serious about art and want to experience a more thorough experience.  There is no pre requisite for this course.  There will be additional supplies required for this course.  If you have the passion for Art this course is for you.

  • Elements and Principles

  • Color Theory

  • Good Composition Skills

  • Tints and Shades     

  • Clay Techniques

  • Right Brain Drawing Skills

  • Art History

  • And many more mediums and experiences

Grading is based on projects and class participation (percentage grade). See Syllabus link.

We are now in a new school with a wonderful art room and veranda for art outside. My Co-Instructor is Carol Watson. Please feel free to contact either one of us for any question concerning our art department.  Feel free to come visit our classrooms and enjoy the Art.  We do have extra studio time for students to stay after school to work on Art.

Supplies

The Art students will be required to pay a studio lab fee of  $20.00  Advanced students can pick up a list of supplies to purchase.  Advanced students will be required to have a small tool box with supplies.
