Welcome to my home page! I am the Ninth Grade Journalism 1 --
Newspaper/Yearbook teacher at
Georgetown High School Ninth Grade Campus.
Education & Teaching Background:
 | I Graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Journalism
and a minor in political science. |
 | My graduate credential work was completed at California State University,
San Marcos. |
 | This is my fifth year of teaching. I retired from the U.S.
Marine Corps December 2003. I served as a Marine Corps public affairs officer for more than 21 years.

 | In 2006 I attended a graduate training fellowship for high school
journalism teachers at Kent State University in
Ohio. |
 | I am currently working on my Master of Library and Information Science
at the University of North Texas and plan to complete the program this
spring. |

This year the newspaper class will be learning about:
 | The history of journalism in the United States |
 | Various styles of journalistic writing |
 | Putting together a high school yearbook. |
 | Working on a school newspaper. |
 | Media Ethics |
 | Issues involving the media |
This year the yearbook class will be producing an 84-page all color yearbook.
Students will learn vocabulary, software, layout and design as they relate to
producing a yearbook. The last nine weeks the yearbook class will learn about the
history of journalism and will write a movie review.
