Welcome to my home page!  I am the Ninth Grade Journalism 1 -- Newspaper/Yearbook teacher at Georgetown High School Ninth Grade Campus.

Education & Teaching Background:

bulletI Graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Journalism and a minor in political science.
bulletMy graduate credential work was completed at California State University, San Marcos.
bulletThis is my fifth year of teaching.  I retired from the U.S. Marine Corps December 2003.   I served as a Marine Corps public affairs officer for more than 21 years. 
bulletIn 2006 I attended a graduate training fellowship for high school journalism teachers at Kent State University in Ohio.
bulletI am currently working on my Master of Library and Information Science at the University of North Texas and plan to complete the program this spring.

bulletVarious styles of journalistic writing
bulletPutting together a high school yearbook.
bulletWorking on a school newspaper.
bulletMedia Ethics
bulletIssues involving the media

This year the yearbook class will be producing an 84-page all color yearbook.  Students will learn vocabulary, software, layout and design as they relate to producing a yearbook.  The last nine weeks the yearbook class will learn about the history of journalism and will write a movie review.
