Natural Disasters
Mr. Choate

Synopsis:  You will be completing research and making a poster to illustrate specific information concerning a natural disaster.  You will utilize the Internet to complete your research.  You will perform this assignment alone.  

Information to Research:

    When and where the disaster occurred

    Monetary damage inflicted by the disaster

    Number of lives lost

    Relief measures taken to help victims

     Changes that occurred in the area of the disaster that were caused by it

    Human interest stories surrounding the disaster

What to Put on the Poster

    All of the information above needs to be a 14, 16, 0r 18 point font; do not write the information directly on the poster

    A map of the area of the disaster. It must be at least 8' X 8' but not larger than 12' X 12'.

    At least two photographs or drawings depicting the disaster. They must be at least 8' X 8' but not larger than 12' X 12'.

    A cool, catchy creative title to your poster. Do not write directly on the poster

Rubric (method of grading)

1.      You will receive a daily grade that is based solely upon completion of the sheet I gave you.  Each time you have to be redirected will cost you twenty points.  This grade will count as two daily grades in the grade book.

2.  The poster will be divided into three parts, for grading purposes, and the total value of the poster is 100 points.  The information you provide, both in its accuracy and the amount included, will be worth 50 points.  The neatness of the poster will be worth 25 points and its creativity will be worth another 25 points, totaling 100 points.  The poster will count as a test grade.
