OBJECTIVES: This year, our Spanish I class will:
SYLLABUS / CLASS RULES ¡BIENVENIDOS A LA CLASE DE ESPAÑOL!

Conference: 4th & 5th per. Materials by class period If possible please bring the following: Tutorials: Preferably by appointment 1st & 6th (2) Highlighters 8:10 - 8:37 a.m. 2nd & 7th (2) Dry-erase markers 3rd & 8th (1 Box) Tissue 1. TARDINESS- you must be inside the classroom at the scheduled time for the door will be locked. You must report to the reception desk immediately (refer to code of conduct). If you come to class without an admission slip after an absence, you go to get one, and you will receive a tardy. 2. PREPAREDNESS – You must come to class prepared with your homework, agenda, binder, paper, spiral, pen or a pencil. The scissors, highlighters & markers must remain in class. You must also wear your I. D. throughout the school day since you will need it for various reasons. 3. POLITENESS - You must raise your hand to ask for permission to leave your seat always. You must also remain seated at the end of class until dismissed by Sra. Tabasco de Ornelas. 4. RESPECT – You must respect other people’s property and space (especially the teacher’s desk and computer area). 5. GUM & CANDY - Having something in your mouth interferes and affects the practice of a foreign language. Neither gum nor candy or food will be allowed in class at any time (even when you are just doing written work.) 6. PASSES - You will be allowed to take one pass per 9wks (that includes restroom, locker, office, and drinking water passes). Save it for a real emergency. 7. DAILY WORK - You will be expected to participate in oral and written assignments. Any unfinished assignment must be taken home for completion unless you’re instructed otherwise. If you are talking, sleeping or wasting time in any way you will lose the privilege of having extra time at home to complete it. 8. HOMEWORK - It must be turned in on time. Do not wait to be reminded to put it in the appropriate drawer. Daily study is required to enjoy success in the study of a foreign language. Late work will NOT be accepted. Don’t get behind! 9. COMPLETION ASSIGNMENTS – No partial work will be accepted. (Partial work is work which is not fully completed; which has blanks on pages.) Since plenty class time is given to work on these assignments, a zero will be given for any assignment page that is incomplete or partially done due to talking, sleeping, etc. 10. MAKE-UP-WORK -If you have an excused absence, you must check the assignment sheet & appropriate basket to get missed work. You must turn in the work within three days if the work was assigned on the day of absence. Previously announced material will NOT be moved to a later date. Also you will NOT be allowed to make up work from an unexcused absence. 11. BINDER & SPIRAL -. You will need five dividers. Use the portfolio set-up sheet to organize binder. Place all completed & graded assignments in them daily to maintain organization. It will be checked periodically and will count as a MAJOR GRADE at least twice a year. You must take & copy notes in your spiral always. 12. TESTS & QUIZZES - Every time we finish a lesson or unit you will be given a quiz or a test. They will be announced in advance. You will always need your #2 pencil for tests. POP QUIZZES ARE ALWAYS A POSSIBILITY so be prepared. COURSE OBJECTIVES*Students will become familiar with the culture and geography of the Spanish-speaking world. *Students will speak, read, and write in Spanish on a simple to advanced level using correct grammar. *Students will prepare themselves for real world experiences using Spanish (mainly through the use of projects that involve speaking proficiency).
GRADING SCALE: 75% Tests/quizzes, oral proficiency and projects 80% Cycle 50% 1st Sem. Avg. 25% Daily work and Homework 20% Semester Final 50% 2nd Semester Grade 100% Cycle Grade Average 100% Semester Avg. 100% Yearly Average
“RESPETO, TOLERANCIA Y HONRADEZ”I agree to turn in all my work on time, make up work no later that 3 days after an absence, take advantage of all the opportunities provided to re-take failed quizzes & tests ASAP and come in for tutorials when necessary. General Information (no divider) A. Cover Sheet (neat, colorful & decorated with adj. that describe your personality in Spanish) Must include: Name, Class, Period, & Teacher’s Name B.
