Mrs. Abby Ray English I & PreAP English I

Welcome to my home page!  My name is Abby Ray, and I teach English I and PreAP English I at the Georgetown Ninth Grade Campus.

My Education & Teaching Background:

• I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas State University, with a major in English and a minor in history.
• I have 12 years of teaching experience.  I have taught English I in Georgetown for all 12 years.

This year, our class will be covering:

- Selected short stories, The Odyssey, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Selected non-fiction works, and the novel To Kill a Mockingbird.

In addition, PreAP classes will read Dickens' Great Expectations. 

Students will also be writing essays and covering basic grammar skills throughout the year.

Supplies needed for my class:  1 spiral notebook OR composition notebook, black or blue pens, pencils, notebook paper,  a binder or folder to keep your English "stuff" (get what works for you and will keep you organized...I don't have a preference)
