Student Council

STUDENT COUNCIL is an exciting way to get involved in high school, meet new people, and help make a difference for your school. It provides leadership and a unified voice for the student body. Student Council advises the Principal on matters of interest to students and also teaches leadership, teamwork, and group cooperation.

Mu Alpha Theta

Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School Mathematics Honor Society. It is dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school students. This organization is for students who have completed two semesters of Pre-AP Algebra I and made an "A" average in the course. It is an honor to be selected for membership in this organization which has chapters across the United States and in some foreign countries.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
 

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) focuses on academic excellence and social service.  If you were a inducted into NJHS in 8th grade, then you are still a member.  All those interested in joining NJHS must maintain an all A average during the first semester on their 9th grades year.  For more information, please visit the following site: http://www.nhs.us/s_nhs/index.asp

Teen Court

Teen Court is a specially designed court that hears only certain Class C misdemeanor cases (excluding speeding 25+ miles over the posted limit, offenses in a work zone, fail to stop/passing a school bus, assault, drug, alcohol or tobacco). The individual cases are defended and prosecuted by teen attorneys and the verdict is rendered by a jury of teens. The Judge for Georgetown Municipal Court serves as the Teen Court Judge.

The City of Georgetown, in cooperation with Georgetown Independent School District and Williamson County, administers the Teen Court program. All Teen Court sessions are open to the public.

Sparklers:

Sparklers is the ninth grade dance team. There is no audition for this team but there is a required summer camp in order to prepare the student for success during the season. This team preforms at football games and competes at contest. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the High School Georgette Dance Team. This is a class that requires outside of school participation as well as a fee for the Uniforms. They practice during 4th period.

Georgettes:

Georgettes is the High School Dance Team. There is an audition for this team in the Spring. There are no ninth grade students on this team instead they audition the Spring of their ninth grade year. This team preforms at Varsity Football games and Pep Rallies as well as community performances, and competes at contests. This is a class that requires outside of school participation as well as a fee for the Uniforms and activities.

Studio Art Club

This is a club made of interested and talented artist in our school who want to commit extra time to the Fine Arts. We will be planning museum visits and other artistic opportunties.

FELLOWSHIP of CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

FCA is the largest Christian sports association in the world. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference.  NGC FCA meets with the High School FCA on Monday nights.

SERTEENS

Serteens is the student affiliate of Sertoma International (SERvice TO MAnkind).  We are concerned with community service.  We take part in the Haunted Hayride, Missions of Mercy, Relay for Life, The Serteen Benefit Concert at Dale's in Walburg, car washes, highway clean-up, and etc.  At the concert alone last year, we raised over $2,000 in hurricane relief.  Every year we have a lock-in at acrotex that is fun and lasts all night.  Contact: Wes Collman CollmanW@georgetownisd.org

 

BLUE CREW

Blue Crew is a spirit organization that supports all activities, Athletic and Academic, at GHS.  We also focus on drug and alcohol awareness, prevention, and wellness.
