Outreach Programs & Services :: Housing & Financial Assistance


Georgetown Independent School District's family specialist and campus guidance counselors can provide referrals to agencies in the Williamson County area that provide assistance with housing, food, and other assistance for families in need.

Williamson-Burnet County Opportunities (WBCO)

WBCO develops and manages affordable single and multi-family housing for income-eligible households. When funding is available, substandard homes are rehabilitated.  WBCO also operates the Madella Hilliard Center in Georgetown, which provides limited financial assistance with utilities (electric and gas) and rent for people working toward self-sufficiency, for example, if they are in a job training program, and provides help with completing forms for government assistance programs.

Georgetown Housing Authority

Provides government subsidized housing in Georgetown, including both conventional/public housing and Section 8 housing. For more information, call 512-863-5565.

Caring Place

Provides emergency financial assistance for rent, rental deposits, utilities (electric, water, gas, butane), utility deposits, prescriptions, medical supplies, emergency dental work, diabetic supplies, optical needs, GED test fees, and college textbooks. Families needing food, clothing, or household goods are given vouchers to the food pantry, thrift shop, and/or clothing store. Also offers emergency financial assistance in paying for child care for families working toward self-sufficiency. May also be able to help with other emergency needs on a case-by-case basis. Donates school supplies to Georgetown ISD. Supplies are delivered to schools the week before school starts and are distributed by the school counselors.

Texas Department of Human Services

Administers the Food Stamp Program, which helps low-income families buy nutritionally adequate food to supplement their diets; the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, which furnishes temporary financial assistance to families with needy children; and other programs.  Georgetown's TDHS office is located at 601 Quail Valley Drive; phone: 512-863-6581.
