Special Education :: Support Groups
The following support groups are family/school partnerships that meet regularly during the school year and are open to both teachers and parents.
Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder (AU/PDD) Support Group
The AU/PDD Educational Support Group, a collaboration between families and school personnel, deal with all areas of the Pervasive Developmental Disorder spectrum. Topics covered range from behavior in and out of school, the ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) process, to the sharing of techniques that have worked for other families. Parents and teachers work together, using effective communication techniques, in meeting the needs of children in the school and classroom.
Meetings are held monthly, in conjunction with the GISD Community Forum. For more information, contact Annette McCarty at 943-5090 x 6650.
