Skyward Family Access Online Student Registration

NEW for the 2016-2017 school year, Georgetown ISD will be utilizing ONLINE student registration in our Skyward Family Access portal. The new online process takes only about 5 minutes per student, and allows you to verify all of your student's data is correct without filling out paper forms at the start of the school year.

Who Needs to Complete Online Registration?
 
Online registration must be completed for each student in the district, whether new or returning.  The registration process allows you to verify that the information we have on file is accurate.  Only the parent/guardians in the student's primary family will have access to online registration.  The student's primary family is the one in which the student primarily resides and to whom the student's residency address was assigned.   Secondary families and parent/guardians in those families can still use Family Access but do not need to complete the online registration process.

Log Into Family Access

To begin the Online Student Registration process for the current school year, log into your Family Access account using the information you were sent in a back-to-school email.  If you did not receive this email, click here to view instructions for how to log into Family Access.

The Online Student Registration links will appear in two places - on the Family Access home page, and on the left menu.   If you have multiple students, you will see multiple links to access each student's registration process individually.

Overview of Student Registration Process

Click either on the Student Registration link on the home page or the Student Registration button on the left-hand side to start the process for the first student in your account. You will be walked through a series of steps to verify and update data in our system and forms required for the start of school.
    • On each step, verify the information shown is correct.  
    • If changes are needed, make them as needed on each step.
    • When all data has been verified and/or corrected on a step, click the Complete step button for each step and click Next to go to the next section.
    • A green check mark will appear, indicating that the step is completed.
    • When all sections are checked completed, you can complete and submit the entire registration for that student.

Step-by-Step Student Registration Instructions

The following sections are required for Student Registration completion.  You will need to mark each step complete, even if no changes are required or made. 

    • Welcome
      • Read and click Next

    • Step 1a. Student Information
      • Provide updated student cell phone number and student home email addresses for secondary students if you would like them to receive school communications.   
      • Click Complete Step 1a and Move to 1b when finished.

    • Step 1b. Family Address
      • If your address has changed, update it as needed.  You will also need to provide proof of residency to your campus registrar for the changes to be accepted by the district.  
      • Click Complete Step 1b and move to 1c when finished.

    • Step 1c. Family Information.
      • Provide updated work, cell and primary phone numbers for all parents.  
      • Missing a family member?  If a guardian appears to be missing, they may be listed under a second family.  After you exit online registration, click on the Student Info button.  Next to your student's information, locate the link that says "View Families."  If you see the guardian listed in another family and this is correct, they can log in to their own account to update their own information.  If they should be part of your family, submit a request to parents@georgetownisd.org to merge them into your family account.
      • If you prefer to receive electronic copies of report cards, uncheck the box that says "Receive a Paper Copy of Report Card."
      • Click Complete Step 1c and Move to 1d when finished.

    • Step 1d. Emergency Information.
      • Update physician, dentist, hospital, and health insurance information as needed.
      • Click Complete Step 1d and Move to 1e when finished.

    • Step 1e.  Emergency Contacts - IMPORTANT!
      • NO EMERGENCY CONTACTS were converted from our old system into Skyward.  
      • If you are a returning student parent, PLEASE add three emergency contacts OTHER THAN PARENTS here by clicking the Add Emergency Contact button.Emergency contacts should be grandparents, relatives, friends, neighbors, or co-workers whom you trust that we could contact in the event of an emergency regarding your child when you or the student's other parent(s) are unreachable.
      • Add up to three emergency contacts.  Indicate under Pick-Up whether they can also pick-up your child.
      • Click Complete Step 1e and move to Step 2 when finished.

    • Step 2 - Verify Race/Ethnicity
      • Click Continue.
      • Make any changes necessary to your child's race and ethnicity if it is incorrect.
      • Click Complete Step 2 and Move to Step  3.

    • Step 3 - Apply for Meal Value Plan (optional)
      • Review the income eligibility guidelines for the Meal Value Plan.  This plan could save your family hundreds of dollars per child, per school year, in meal costs if you are eligible.  If you previously received free or reduced meals, you MUST complete the application annually to qualify.
      • If you believe you are eligible for the Meal Value Plan, click the link Apply for Meal Value Plan (optional) and walk through the online application.  
      • If you are not eligible, click "I do not qualify for benefits or do not wish to complete an application."
      • Click Complete Step 3 and move to Step 4.

    • Step 4 - Apply for Family Assistance (optional)
      • A message will appear, asking if you would like to complete the Family Assistance Survey.
      • Click Yes.
      • The form will open.  If you do not wish to apply for any additional family assistance from GISD or partner organizations, click No on the first question.
      • If you do wish to apply for additional family assistance, click Yes on the first question, then rank your top five priorities by entering 1-5 in the options shown and completing the remainder of the form.
      • Click Complete Step 4 and move to Step 5.

    • Step 5 - Update Student Health History
      • A message will appear, asking if you would like to complete the Student Health History.
      • Click Yes.
      • The form will open.  Answer all questions shown.  At the bottom of the form, type your full name and the date to sign the form.
      • Click Complete Step 5 and move to Step 6.

    • Step 6 - Update Student Services Survey
      • A message will appear, asking if you would like to complete the Student Services Survey.
      • Click Yes.
      • The form will open.  Answer all questions shown.
      • Click Complete Step 6 and move to Step 7.

    • Step 6 - Update Student Services Survey
      • A message will appear, asking if you would like to complete the Student Services Survey.
      • Click Yes.
      • The form will open.  Answer all questions shown.
      • Click Complete Step 6 and move to Step 7.

    • Step 7 - Releases and Signatures
      • A message will appear, asking if you would like to complete the Student Services Survey
      • Click Yes.
      • The form will open.  Answer all questions shown.  At the bottom, select "I Accept" and type your name and the date to sign the form.
      • Click Complete Step 7 and move to Step 8.

    • Step 8 - Complete 2016-2017 Student Registration.
      • If all sections are completed, you will see the Submit Student Registration button.  If any sections are incomplete, return to them in the menu item and mark them completed.  Then return again to step 8.
      • Click Submit Student Registration. You will receive an email notification that your registration is complete.
Completed

  • Return to the home page and repeat these steps for all of your students.
