02/01/2012 - Public Forum to Discuss New Elementary Zones

Georgetown, Texas • February 1, 2012
The Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees will conduct a Public Forum to discuss new elementary attendance zones on Monday, February 6th beginning at 6:00 PM. The forum will be held in the board room at the GISD Administrative Building located at 603 Lakeway in Georgetown. Administration regulations will allow currently enrolled elementary students impacted by the boundary changes the option to "grandfather" or "stay put" at their current campus.  Transportation will not be provided for students that grandfather to their current campus.
Superintendent Joe Dan Lee originally presented the Board of Trustees with the preliminary attendance zones for Frost and McCoy Elementary Schools at the December 5, 2011 board meeting. The proposed attendance zones will be used beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year as both schools transition to K-5 campuses. The preliminary attendance zones will place 386 students at Frost, and 556 students at McCoy. The plan presented pulls 81 students from Village and sends 67 students to Cooper Elementary and 64 students to the Purl/Williams attendance zones. The attendance zones may be viewed and downloaded through the Georgetown ISD web site at
