02/08/2012 - Public Forum Conducted on Attendance Zones

Georgetown, Texas • February 8, 2012

About three dozen citizens and staff members attended the announced public forum by the Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees this week to discuss proposed elementary school attendance zones. The Trustees will place the attendance zones on the agenda as an action item for the February 21st board meeting. The proposed attendance zones have been posted on the Georgetown ISD web site since December 6th, and will continue to be available for download.

The proposed attendance zones will be used beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year as both schools transition to K-5 campuses. The attendance zones will place 386 students at Frost, and 556 students at McCoy. The plan presented pulls 81 students from Village and sends 67 students to Cooper Elementary and 64 students to the Purl/Williams attendance zones. The attendance zones may be viewed and downloaded through the Georgetown ISD web site. Administration regulations will allow currently enrolled elementary students impacted by the boundary changes the option to "grandfather" or "stay put" at their current campus. Transportation will not be provided for students that grandfather to their current campus.
