02/23/2012 - EVHS Tops National Healthy High School Challenge
Georgetown, Texas • February 23, 2012
Sodexo, the student nutrition provider for Georgetown ISD, presented a total of $7,500 cash prizes to three schools this month for record participation numbers in the first-ever Healthy High School Challenge. East View High School finished the six-week program as the Grand Prize Winner, Georgetown High School finished second in the Healthy Snacks category, and Richarte High School was a Consolation Award Winner out of 201 participating schools across the country.
Sodexo created the Healthy High School Challenge as a fun and interactive way to get high school students thinking about making healthy food choices. Through this program, students earned points for their school every time they selected healthy foods in the cafeteria and other Sodexo-served locations in schools. Students also earned double points for purchasing the featured healthy item of the week.
