Welcome

My name is Amanda Day and I am the SOAR Redirector (Student Originated Academic Responsibility) at Tippit Middle School.

Education & Teaching Background:

• B.S. Management/Certified Special Education PreK-12th 
• Alternative Certification-Huston-Tillotson University
• 7th year in GISD
• 2 years in Austin Independent School District

SOAR:

• Incorporates many accepted and successful practices related to student achievement;
• Social skills, corrective feedback and cognitive awareness strategies insure that learning takes place;
• The environment is designed to improve student self-esteem and enhance mastery of the academic and social skills necessary to become successful students in the school and productive citizens in the community.

Special Interest:

I coach a summer track team named GT Lightning. This summer three of my athletes qualified for the National Junior Olympics in Detroit, Michigan.  I also had 7 athletes compete in the TAAF State Games of Texas in San Antonio.
