3. Making
Generalizations (Kamico book--page 405)--Students will
do an activity today that focuses on making
generalizations. We will discuss what a generalization
is and go over an example on the overhead together.
Students will be given a number of different statements
and will be asked to make a generalization based on
these statements. We will then talk about statements
that would not be good generalizations for this
scenario. Students will then work with a partner to
come up with five specific statements that support a
generalization that will be given to them. They will
fill out a graphic organizer to do this. If time
permits, students will then share their statements with
the class, and the class will try to come up with the
generalization. Each student is to turn in their
graphic organizer for a daily grade.
