Math Projects

Math projects are given at least once every nine weeks. Projects are worth one TEST GRADE. Test grades, again, are worth 67% of a student's grade. So treat projects responsibly!

Quarter 4 (1 Project)-    Individual  Project: "Get a Job!"  (Letters are to be sent out at the beginning of the project)

Students will choose a profession they are interested in, and they will then contact someone in that field through the mail. Through a questionnaire that is filled out & sent back, students will create a research report describing the profession's future, job security, math involved, education required, etc. Students will then be asked to complete a research paper (2 pages) based on their questionnaire. For the second part of this project, students will be giving an oral report to the class to share their occupation and math skills information with the class. Last but not least, if time permits, we will have several of our respondents visit with us to share about their jobs, and give us demonstrations of the math involved in their work.

*This project requires that all students bring in: 3 Stamps & 3 Business-sized envelopes
